My story
My artistic journey began in Naples, where I studied painting at the Academy of Fine Arts. Growing up surrounded by the Mediterranean Sea, its intense colours and ever-changing light shaped the way I learned to observe the world. Over time, water became much more than a subject in my paintings. It became a way for me to explore light, colour, movement and the subtle beauty of fleeting moments.
Life took me along different paths, and for a period my painting had to take a step back. Yet my connection with art never disappeared. Returning to painting allowed me to reconnect with an essential part of myself and to continue developing the visual language that defines my work today.
Living in Ireland has added another dimension to my artistic perspective. The atmosphere, the changing skies and the different qualities of light have enriched my observation of the natural world. Between the warmth and vibrancy of the Mediterranean and the distinctive character of the Irish landscape, I have found an ongoing source of inspiration.
My Style and Artistic Practice
My work focuses on the relationship between water, light and reflection. I am fascinated by the way light transforms the surface of water, breaking images into fragments, shifting colours and creating patterns that are constantly changing.
I work primarily with oil paint, using a realistic approach, careful observation and meticulous attention to detail. I am drawn to the challenge of translating the complexity of reflections onto canvas: the transparency of water, the movement of its surface, the contrast between light and shadow, and the vivid colours that emerge from their interaction.
For me, realism is not simply about reproducing what I see. It is about looking more closely, discovering details that might otherwise go unnoticed, and interpreting them through my own sensitivity to colour and light.
Each painting begins with observation, but it develops through a dialogue between what I see and the way I choose to represent it. I want the finished work to retain the richness of the natural world while offering a distinct visual experience of its own.
What Makes My Art Unique
I believe my artistic identity lies in the meeting of technical precision and personal interpretation.
I am committed to the discipline of realistic painting, yet I am equally interested in the expressive possibilities of colour, reflection and movement. Water offers me an endless field of exploration: it can reveal and distort, reflect and conceal, appear still and yet suggest movement. No reflection remains exactly the same, and this constant transformation is at the heart of my practice.
My background in Naples and my life in Ireland have given me different ways of experiencing the sea, the landscape and the light. These experiences inform my work, not as separate influences, but as part of the perspective I bring to every painting.
Through my art, I seek to draw attention to moments that are often brief and easily overlooked — the glimmer of light on a wave, the depth beneath a reflection, or the unexpected harmony of colours on the water's surface.
I want my paintings to invite viewers to pause, look closer and experience the quiet fascination of these moments for themselves.
For me, painting is an ongoing exploration of how light, colour and water can transform our perception of the world. Each canvas is an opportunity to capture something fleeting and give it a lasting presence.
